| - I wanted to write a review because I think most of the time if people are happy they go on their way, and if they are not they leave scathing reviews. We have enjoyed living in this complex. We rented a 1 bedroom apartment around 700 sq ft for our small family of 3. It was a bit tight, but totally doable. We lived in the one bedroom for about 8 months, then moved into a 2 bedroom 2 bath of 1,000 sq ft as we took in our sick mother. Our parking space was relatively close to our unit both times, but not overly so, one assigned space and then we parked our other car in an open space. Frequently the open space was not close at all. Like with any apartment complex you have the chance of having noisy neighbors. We were fortunate to not have that in the one bedroom, but our 2 bedroom we had noisy upstairs and next door neighbors with lots of kids, but that is part of apartment life. Nothing too horrible. The grounds were usually pretty well kept. Lots of construction and upgrades happened the whole time we lived here. It was nice that they were updating, but it definitely made the place messy during the process. People don't always clean up after dogs, but again, the complex isn't at fault for that, and they usually come through and clean it before it gets too bad. We did have the occasional small water bug and ants from time to time, but no more than what you would get in a house. The biggest issue we had was with the insulation/windows. SO MUCH HEAT comes in through the windows. They are single pane and VERY flimsy. Lots of heat comes in both morning and afternoon. Our thermostat is never set below 75 and we paid close to $200 a month over summer for a 1,000 sq ft apartment. Expect to spend a lot on electricity. We tried to put up window film to help with the heat, and it did, but the complex made us remove it. We have the special heat/light blocking curtains too, but it just isn't enough to keep the heat out. We also had an issue with our AC this summer, and it took a while to fix it, like a week, because there were so many failing units from the excessive heat we had this year, it basically ran the whole week and it still never got to a comfortable temperature, but never got dangerously hot. We spent a lot extra on electricity that month. Oh, and the gate off of the Central Ave entrance has been broken off and on for about a year.
Overall though, we have not been dissatisfied. The maintenance and office staff has always been courteous and helpful. We especially like Charos in the front office and the the maintenance supervisor. He is always very kind to my daughter. We have never lived in an apartment complex with no issues, and this place had the least issues of anywhere we have rented. There layouts are nice, closet space is abundant, and the granite counters/black appliances are a nice feature. I will say the second bath in the 2x2 is HORRIBLY cramped, and the door opens in. You have to walk in, stand in the corner and then close the door to get to the toilet. VERY inconvenient. They should change the doors to swing out into the hall.
We wouldn't be leaving if it weren't for their pricing, though. This area has gotten a lot of new amenities and their prices have gone way up since we moved in. I wouldn't hesitate to rate the place 5 stars if they installed new energy efficient windows, and got new AC units. I know those would be costly upgrades, but it would really go a long way to improve tenants lives! Thanks so much for being a nice place to live.
