  • My kids currently go to Pediatrix but I am trying to find something different. I think what is killing me is they are trying to automate appointments. I call and they want me to leave all my information on an answering machine so they can call me back to make an appt. I have 3 kids - most likely I am not going to be able to answer my phone which is why I call when it is convenient. When I do hold to make an appt (which is an option), I hang up after about 45 mins of being on hold. This has happened at least the past 3 times and I cannot deal with it anymore. I also filled out the online appt request an no one called me back. Now to the doctors: The doctors I have seen are nice and good with the kids but when it comes to medical, I am not comfortable. My first daughter passed away so I am really protective of my kids. One time I thought my son had acid reflux (my daughter was really bad) - I did not get any follow up questions, just a prescription. Another time my son had an allergic reaction to a prescription. I went to the doctor (a different dr than above), he took him off his prescription and gave him something else. I was told within hours it would clear. It did not, so I called (at this point it was after hours). The doctor called me back and basically said not to worry unless it got worse. Then it got worse. I called back and the same doctor on call called me back and basically said not to worry about it. Well why did you say to call if it got worse? My biggest complaint is my doctor not calling me the next day to follow up on his condition. I moved here a year ago. My last pediatrician office was amazing (as I realize now). She would call me the following evening/day after I would bring one of my kids in just to follow up; even if it was just an ear infection. Even if I did not answer my phone she would leave a message and I would not have to call her back unless I felt the need. It was just nice to know she actually cared. I do not expect that level, but something as serious as an allergic reaction, someone should care enough to follow up. I do not know of many pediatrician offices in northern phoenix, but I will drive out of my way to get the customer care the bigger office cannot offer. Someone answering the phone to make an appt would be nice too!
