| - Lovely, luxurious hotel. I am staying in the Marriott villas across the road, which means that I can enjoy the amenities at the JW, too.
First, let me say that the hotel has real wow factor. It's both tall and expansive, and it has a very imposing stature as you approach it from the road. As soon as you get out of the car, your feet hit marble. The entry to the hotel is several stories high, with a grand staircase leading through the entry to the back of the hotel. Wow factor overload. I've stayed in JWs all over the world, and this one is my favorite (so far).
I love that the hotel is home to several restaurants - not just super high end locations. I like that there seems to be a variety of choices - seafood, bar food, sushi, etc. Having several options is a big plus. There is a nice bar area in the lower lobby area with a view of the grass and the pool area. Great spot for a HH cocktail before dinner! Also, two restaurants feature a Sunday brunch! Looking forward to trying brunch this Sunday. I shall report back ;)
The hotel is in a fantastic location. It's surrounded by waking trails, a beautiful, immaculately manicured golf course, tennis courts, and it's a quick, 10 minute-ish walk to an outdoor mall area with lots of stores, an AMC movie theater, a nice-ish grocery store, and plenty of restaurants. The Marriott runs shuttles between the villas, the hotel, and the mall, so it's very easy to get around. We took a cab from the airport, and the ride was only about 20 minutes.
There is shopping in the hotel, too. Forget something? The store has you covered - from clothing to jewelry to odds and ends to toiletries -- and if they don't have it, the staff will find somewhere that does.
Across from the store is a large Starbucks! This isn't some little, limited, typical hotel Starbucks - this is the real-deal with everything you can normally purchase at a Starbucks.
Great hotel, great service, definitely a wonderful location. I'm loving the villas across the street, but I will probably pop over to the JW everyday of our stay.
