  • There is grass in the summer and dirt and dead grass the rest of the year. There is a large dog and small dog side. We have a Great Dane so we are only on the large dog side when we visit, which is daily. Most people are friendly. Dogs with friendly owners are also usually friendly. The occasional jerk with jerk dog will show up, but they usually find their way out forever when their dog starts a fight. There is not much shade, so come before the heat of the day hits. The caged area between the outside and the inside of the fenced dog park is intended for taking off or putting on your dogs leash. I've seen too many make the mistake of waiting until they are inside with all the dogs to unleash and find themselves on their back as the dogs go crazy greeting each other and the owner is holding onto a tangled leash. I recommend walking close to the fence or finding a seat quickly or you might be knocked down standing center field with the dogs running and chasing. Expect to get messy. Dogs will slobber on you, wipe their dirty paws on you, and in the worse case scenario, might even pee on you. This is a dog park, you can't get too mad about these things. Don't bring toys for your dog you don't want other dogs sharing. Don't bring treats (if you do, I won't feel sorry for you when multiple dogs rush you, and bark at you, and hound you for those treats). Don't try to eat in the dog park (this has never gone well for anyone who has tried.) If you bring in a drink, keep it in your site at all times. Dogs will lick your cup, drop a ball in it or knock it over if unsupervised. Please pick up your dogs poop! There are a few volunteers that help pick up after those who don't, but they shouldn't have to. I recommend bringing your own bags. Sometimes there are bags others have brought to share and stuffed in the fence. The city does not supply to dog poop bag dispensers ever.
