Had an impromptu visit to Duo recently to catch up with a few friends. We were lucky to secure a table relatively soon after walking in. I've heard a lot about this uptown french pastry cafe from others but I didn't have very high expectations going in.
On a Sunday around 3pm, the selection of pastries and dessert tarts were already dwindling down quickly. There was only one pistachio tart left and one yuco leaving only a dozen or so mont blancs and certain croissants.
I ordered a yuco cakelet and also got to sample the pistachio tart and the pain au chocolat from my friends.
The yuco cakelet was quite enjoyable with a definite taste of yuzu and mango in the center. The yuzu tartness was a good balance to the sweetness of the coconut on the outer layer.
With that being said, I don't think I would return often to Duo as it was quite overpriced (a matcha latte was $4.95 for a small and most cakelets/tarts were around $6-8 each).
