  • Stopped by Le Germain Calgary's new Central 899 Lounge tonight because my girlfriends and I heard about their fantastic champagne and prosecco by-the-glass menu. The ambiance of Central 899 is fabulous. You honestly feel like you are in New York or downtown LA (minus the snow and ice outside) because of the fantastic floor to ceiling glass windows, sunken lounge seating (below sidewalk level), and modern lighting. The place was absolutely packed when we got there but there was some great window-side lounge seating available and gorgeous white leather mid-century modern chairs. They had a great wine & sparkling menu and three of us tried the Brut Cava while our other friend tried the Prosecco. It was fantastic and well-priced. You truly can't find champagne by the glass for a reasonable price in this city so Central 899 really opens up the market for us champagne-lovers! it looked like they had a great charcuterie menu that looked like it sampled a gourmet poutine! I can't wait to go back and try out their appetizer menus. I think Central 899 has a new regular....
