| - We came out to The Barrymore last night for a friend's 30th birthday.
She did a simple search of "Unique Places to eat in Las Vegas" and this was highly recommended.
The Barrymore is a great little steakhouse, just off the strip, in a little hotel that I'd never heard of before. It was, admittedly, a little hard to find at first, but once we realized that it was inside the hotel, it was smooth sailing.
The atmosphere here is old, swanky Vegas. The room was beautiful, with what looked like old movie reels on the ceiling, and a glass case (of emotion) of wine opposite our table.
I love places that have a Yelp Check In perk, and The Barrymore gives you one free glass of wine with your check in! The Cabernet is WONDERFUL. I was very pleased with my selection.
Last night, we didn't do a "family style" per se, but I was able to taste a bunch of the sides, and other food.
Can I talk about the bread basket? Mini baguettes, pretzel rolls, and the most awesome...I never remember the proper name of the big "cracker" like bread/toast things, but...YUM!!! We devoured both bread baskets in record time.
My husband and I ordered:
The Chilean Sea Bass with butternut squash risotto (for me): AMAZING. The risotto was decadent. The Sea Bass was cooked to perfection, and the portion size was perfect...not too much, and not too little. I was SO thrilled with this choice.
The Berkshire Pork Chop (for my husband): I had a bite, and this was really yummy! Cooked really well, and paired with grapes and roasted Brussels sprouts, he was a happy camper.
The Lobster Mac and Cheese: Meh....it was ok, but not as amazing as I was hoping. The lobster was great, but I'd have liked the mac n cheese to have been a bit more creamy. Not my favorite, but it was still good.
I sampled from my friends:
The Pan seared foie gras: SO delicious. The fig and cherry compote with the pain perdu, and port reduction...wonderful. Just wonderful.
The filet mignon: I had a bite of my friend's steak, and it was perfection. Beautifully charred on the outside, perfect mid rare inside...mmmm. Really good.
Mashed potatoes: really nice. Smooth, and creamy.
Seafood Platter: This was the best seafood platter I've ever seen. Oysters. A WHOLE lobster. Crab claws. Ahi poke. And 8-10 of the biggest jumbo shrimp I've ever seen. I tried the oysters and the shrimp: both were wonderful. By the way my friend was hoarding the crab claws, those must have been incredible too. Fella said that the lobster was amazing, as was the ahi.
All in all, we had a truly enjoyable evening. Service was top notch. And I do mean TOP notch.
Monday nights are industry nights, so we enjoyed 50% off food, which was absolutely incredible.
Well done, Barrymore. You are going high up on my list of spots to recommend. We'll be back soon.
