| - Pretentious. I have tried to find a better way to describe the restaurant in one word, but that keeps coming to mind. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant and the menu is definitely interesting, but I was put off by the staff.
In particular, I strongly disliked my server. I'm trying not to be overly critical out of spite, but sometimes it's difficult to disassociate a restaurant from the people they employ. For starters, I get it they are going for a particular "vibe" with their front of the house staff, hiring people with an edgy look - but my guy gave me pause to wonder if he even cared about his hygiene.
He struck me as snooty, which strikes me as ironic given the identity of the restaurant. One thing that stuck out for me is two out of our four received our food, then a third came a couple minutes later, then the fourth in our party received his food seven minutes after the original drop off. I actually looked at my watch and timed it.
When questioned why the food didn't arrive all at the same time, our server let us know with a huff that they don't use heat lamps. Like, how stupid am I? I should be grateful that our food is coming out like this because they are way too clever to use a fundamental kitchen appliance that almost every other restaurant utilizes to ensure even service.
So, while it might be nice that my food didn't get a bit dried out under the heat lamp, it wasn't so great that it got cold because I didn't want to be rude and eat while a member of my party had not received his food yet.
As for the food, everyone did enjoy what they received. Portions are generous, presentation is nice, and the prices are reasonable given the quantity you receive.
