When you leave California to go to Vegas, to eat the best that CA has to offer!
That totally makes sense right? I take a hour plane ride to try this place, before I actually drive an hour to go to the original location. Anyways, life happens in mysterious ways.
I've had some delicious goodness from the Bouchon in Napa, but never sat down in the restaurant. Luckily, on our last night in Vegas we made the genius decision to do so! We used Open Table to secure a spot, but it was unnecessary on an October, Tuesday evening in Vegas. Luckily we already knew it was in the Venetian and didn't have an issue getting there. When we did we saw that the inside was virtually empty and the patio was pretty full.
We decided to share a few appetizers:
Oeufs Mimosa - 4 deviled eggs
Formag Blanc - cheese on walnut bread (my descriptor not theirs)
Fromage du Jour - selection of cow, sheep or goat artisanal cheese, served with seasonal garnishes, & pecan-raisin crackers - 3pcs
We were a little confused by the waitress and we thought she was asking about the formag blanc when she asked about additional cheese, so that's why we ended up with the third appetizer. All of them were amazing, in addition to the fresh baked, cutest loaf of bread we were served with soft, delicious butter. Seriously, the creaminess of the formag blanc was heavenly. I want to smear that all over everything I eat! The walnut bread wasn't my favorite and you can for sure feel the texture of the walnuts, despite what our server said. The deviled eggs has great flavor, but were really cold.
Easily, I knew what I was having as my entree - Steak Frites, pan-seared flat iron,
caramelized shallots & maître d'hôtel butter, served with French fries. However, totally copying my co-worker I also upgraded my fries to their truffle fries - BEST DECISION EVER! The server said they only recommend this plate served medium or rare, so my option of medium to well done was not preferred. She said if you like your meat prepared like that, they recommend the Steak Bouchon, since the cut is larger. I put on my big girl panties and ordered it as medium as possible and went with it. Our other co-worker ordered the special for the evening, which was a rack of lamb.
I can't even talk about how good my meal was! The words that I try to use will never justify the flavor of truffle amazingness that occurred at the table, within that plate! The steak was not a thin piece of steak as waitress mentioned, it was a nice block of steak, covered in fries. Seriously, the French have it so right with Steak Frites! The french fries were crisp to perfection, flavored with just the right amount of truffle. Not too much and not too little, seriously I ate myself to a stomach ache they were so damn good. As I sit here, I can vividly remember the taste, if only I could accurately describe it to you...
We had to dessert, it was a must! I can't remember the exact names of what was ordered, but I'm pretty sure it was Pumpkin creme de pot and the crepe cake. I hate pumpkin, but had to try it. The server said the pumpkin flavor was light, but again, she was wrong. It was a lot of pumpkin flavor, but the shortbread cookies were tasty. Not anything I'd ever order, but glad to have tried. My cake was good and the crepes were amazing, but I expect more flavor from the filling part (sadly, I can't remember if it was Nutella or chocolate). The Crème fraîche that it was paired with was lovely and refreshing.
The service was beyond amazing, exactly what you'd expect from a TK restaurant. Although I didn't agree with some of our server's assessments of the menu, she was awesome, attentive, and not overbearing. She covered anything and everything we needed. She was sweet, cordial, and helpful for any questions we had. Everything was as good as I would have dreamed from a TK location!
The PERFECT meal to say goodbye to Vegas with!
