I've got great memories of the Lady Luck. It was where my wife and I stayed on our first ever trip to Las Vegas back in 1989. We booked it through our travel agent (what are those?) and got cut rate airfare, limo transfers to/from the airport, 3 buffet meals a day (included in the price), and a decent room without bedbugs. All for about $600 for BOTH of us.
Some memorable experiences include being woken up at about 0600 in the AM by fire truck sirens (LV City fire dept main station was located about a few blocks away). Fortunately, when I ran to the window, the fire trucks were headed away from our hotel.
Getting my first royal flush on a video poker machine at the Lady Luck was another nice memory. Unfortunately, I was playing quarter machines at the time and I only put in a 1 quarter bet. Otherwise, I would not be working as much now.
We've stayed at other places over the years, but the Lady Luck was still one of my favorite dumps. Even today, when the wife and I stay on the Strip in a 5 star hotel, we still make time to head downtown and check out the Lady Luck (from the outside). I will definitely visit (maybe stay) when it reopens.
