| - We saw Fat Choy on Triple D with Guy Fieri and what was shown definitely stood out, so we had to come! Unfortunately, not everything lived up to our expectations.
This place is located in the back of a pretty bad casino in a pretty bad area . .no complaints there, it's a true dive and cool to see a standout spot!
The diner is definitely in nicer shape than the casino, and all the waitresses were extremely friendly, fun, courteous, and sweet!
Taking a look at the menu, we chose the following - (also shown on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives)
Pork belly bao: two to an order, soft bao buns with thick, yet soft tender juicy pork belly slices, a schmear of hoisin sauce, topped with peanuts, mustard greens, and cilantro. These were so good!! The highlight of the meal and really happy to try them
Short rib grilled cheese - on sourdough and a side of crispy fries, the bread was toasted so well, nice and crispy! The Sandwich looked so cheesy, and it was, but it seems they were out of cheddar and provolone cheese as stated in the menu . . all I tasted was American cheese, unfortunately. The short rib was soft, juicy, but not too flavorful. I didn't taste any onion jam, and the tomato dip tasted like marinara.
Sesame noodles - these were alright, again nothing special and they came out cold. The noodles were thick, juicy, and had a good bite. the combination of flavors was good and a slight kick from the sriracha with a bonus savory flavor from the bean curd, but it just didn't "wow" us
