  • Winterlicious Part 2: Safari Grill on Avenue Road north of Lawrence is a good ol' local food joint that focuses on traditional American food with a twist. Upon entry, they've actually got two entrances, one for their restaurant and the other with stairs leading to their second floor bar that's filled with pool tables and ping-pong tables. Firstly this felt like a cozy place, perfect for a date, simple, cozy and yet classy...overall a very warm environment! Our server was very sweet, casual and open to providing recommendations. For starters I had their Roasted apple and squash bisque! great melody of flavor. Mains: being a carnivore I tried their Cajun rubbed fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs smeared with a bourbon BBQ sauce served with winter vegetables. Truly delicious and the portions were more than enough! Dessert: White Chocolate and Raspberry Butter Tart a great way to end off an excellent meal. Looking at their regular menu, portion and prices, its quite a reasonable place that I'll have to visit again! Easy 4 stars for this place.
