  • This would have been one of my last choices for hospitals to have surgery. Fortunately, my experience here in February was a positive one. My positive feelings about the experience are due to the staff, especially the nurses because they were all amazing. In advance of surgery I was contacted by the hospital to go over my share of the cost after insurance. I was asked if I would be able to pay the day of the procedure which I found fascinating. The estimate I was given was very close to the actual cost. I paid the original estimate the morning of the procedure and ended up owing less than $20 when the final bill arrived. The day before the procedure a nurse contacted me with medical instructions and my updated arrival time. Spoiler alert, if you are having surgery go ahead and buy Hibiclens ahead of time. The nurse was clear with my instructions and what I should and should not do prior to arrival. The morning of the procedure I was told to arrive 2 1/2 hours beforehand. Check-in paperwork took less than 10 minutes and we were on to the main waiting room. There I waited for 1 1/2 hours since the nurses start their shifts at 7:00. My only complaint would be that I was told to arrive so early when nothing can be done until the nurses arrive anyways. The entire nursing staff was respectful, kind, and communicated the process well. The pre-op nurse made me feel at ease from the beginning. She was caring and quick to get everything moving to stay on schedule. The nurse did put my IV in an odd spot that slightly painful and left me with a gross bruise for over a week. It wasn't the end of the world though. My doctor and the anesthesiologist both spoke to me beforehand. The anesthesiologist was great. She was no nonsense and made me feel at ease since not waking up was my main concern. The post op nurse was on top of asking how I was doing and providing pain medication. She gave me constant updates on how much time was left before I could leave. My husband was able to come back to grab my prescriptions to fill while we waited. I was sent home with clear instructions. The next morning a nurse called me to check on me.
