  • Picked up my Budget car in Cleveland. Later that evening I thought the left front tire was low on air. When I examined it I saw the tread was worn down to the nub. Checking the other front tire I saw that it was new. The car had 41,000 miles and for some reason they decided to hold on to the left tire, rather than replacing them both. I had a long trip on Christmas day and didn't want to take a chance. Took the car back on Christmas and they put me in another. I drove for a couple of miles and turned back because the windshield wipers didn't touch the windshield and the fluid was empty or the pump didn't work. The lot attendant suggested that I should check out cars in the lot to find one that was safe/satisfactory. I didn't think that was my job. I cancelled my contract and went with Avis (same owner) and got a safe car. It cost me a couple hundred more but at least I was safe. I went with Budget for the first time in years because they had a promotion. Their marketing brought me in and their quality lost me. Seems like a waste of money to suck them in and then disappoint them.
