| - My girlfriend and I were strolling around the area looking for a place to have some sweets, and came across The Pie Shack.
From the moment we walked in, we fell in love with this place. There's simplicity, nostalgia, beauty in the decor.
The idea is simple: pie. Coffee/Tea. Tables, board games.
We ordered an Apple pie, and a strawberry rhubarb slice, with coffee and tea, and while it took a while to get them warm enough, we didn't really care, it didn't really matter as we were entertained playing board games.
The owner, as mentioned by others, is a very personable, genuinely nice guy.
Between the beauty of the place, the simple fun of playing some cards in a chilled environment and how great the owner was, it almost feels like the food was secondary.
And it was.
For the purpose of this review I'll say: the apple pie wasn't that great (although this is probably a matter of palate). But the strawberry rhubarb was absolutely delicious.
Coffee was fresh, tea was tea...but again, this place gets my highest score based on the experience as a whole.
I'm craving pie. We're going back soon to try other flavours.
