| - 4.5 stars! Did you know that according to the dictionary, bacchanal means an occasion of wild and drunken revelry? And at the Bacchanal buffet at Caesars, I can see that happening with its bottomless mimosas during weekend brunch! The servers keep refilling your glass if it even looks a quarter empty!
This is a super nice buffet - lots of food stations and a nice modern interior. There was an Asian food station (with dim sum and sushi and a made-to-order noodle area), salad station, Italian station (with pizza and pasta), a cheese station, a meat station (where they cut prime rib or sausages for you), a Mexican food station (where they make you tacos to order and have chilled horchata in bottles) a seafood station (with crab legs), and the dessert station (where they scoop ice cream for you, make ice cream sammies and shave ice bowls for you).
For the half hour I waited and the $45 (before tax and tip) that I paid, I was going to get my time and money's worth and more from this buffet. I ate SO much that I had to unbutton my pants (ADVICE: wear stretchy yoga pants when going to buffet) and my stomach was protruding so much that walking afterwards was quite difficult due to the imbalance of my body's weight distribution. Gigantic food baby. But I think it's safe to say I got my money's worth.
There were definitely some delicious goodies at this Bacchanalia, but a few misses as well. The dim sum was yummy - they had a taro paste bun, shu mai, bbq pork bun, and shrimp har gow in those steamer baskets. The har gows were so good, I went back for seconds. They also had oxtail in a soup and duck and fried rice and chow fun noodles. The made to order noodle bar was cool - you could choose from four different noodle soups - pho, ramen, udon, and a fourth that I don't remember. You tell the lady what you want and in less than five minutes, she hands you a piping hot bowl of noodle soup. The sushi and sashimi not bad either - not a huge selection, but they had tuna and salmon sashimi, as well as spicy tuna rolls, which are my favorites.
I love crab, so I had to try the crab legs. They actually slice the crab legs in half the long way for you, so that the meat is exposed and you don't have to crack it - you just scoop the meat out with your utensil of choice. I've never seen that before and it's really convenient. But...the crab legs were really cold. I prefer mine to be warm. When I went back up for my fourth round of food, then I saw a sign that said warm crab legs were available at the Italian station. And then my friend said that they could warm them up for you too. Doh! Oh well. Next time. One of my favorite dishes was this miso glazed cod that came with a side of wasabi mashed potatoes. Yum.
Some of the things I ate weren't worth the tummy space - the pad thai was no good. The fried chicken was too salty. There was this mushroom polenta thing that was too salty too. So some things were too salty.
Dessert was a mixed bag. The shave ice that they make for you was just meh. The ice cream bar was cool - they scoop it for you or you can have them make you a ice cream sandwich. I tried the mango lime chili ice cream and that was just okay. They also had macarons, so we tried one of each flavor - pistachio was yummy! They had flan that was just ok, and the creme brulee was good. There was a sign that said they had green tea creme brulee but they never refilled it so we didn't get to try. Some of the cakes were yummy.
Overall, the buffet was very very very good! The service was great - they cleared away our empty plates speedily. And they provide these little rubber gripper things for when you have to grab hot plates! So smart! They even accommodated my friend's special request to have a grapefruit mimosa. Food was mostly yummy. I would come back - but I want to try other buffets first! :D Come hungry!
