I've been to Guaucho twice now for lunch, once with my fiance and most recently this past Tuesday with my father. The inside of this restaurant is quite small and probably seats only around 10 people with seating for 15 or more outside next to the restaurant. There's not too many decorations inside either although there is a chalkboard menu which you can order from and then on a center table there is an area where you can grab your utensils or serve yourself any of their four sauces. Both of the times that I was at Gaucho I ended up ordering the Carné for my entree. The Carne is their steak sandwich which allows you to choose between one of the 5 cuts of steak that they serve and that comes with roasted red peppers and onions on a nice ciabbata roll. The first time that I was there I ordered the skirt steak but I heard the owner mentioning this last time that it is no longer on the menu and has been replaced by the hangar steak. So this last time I ended up choosing the rib-eye as the cut of steak that I wanted. As with all of the meat that I have tried here it had the wonderful wood smoked flavor to it. My only complaint about it is that it was a bit tougher than I expected and so made for some hard chewing. We also ended up ordering the large portion of vegetables which I have had both times that I have visited now. They consist of onions, roasted red peppers, zucchini and asparagus. Surprisingly, this ended up producing my favorite part of the meal as the roasted red peppers have a great natural sweetness to them and when combined with the sweet balsamic drizzle on top, makes for the perfect counterpoint to the wood-smoked flavor. Honestly, I could probably eat those red peppers all day. The rest of the vegetables were good as well and most had a hint of the smokiness but none came close to what the peppers absorbed. My dad was also a big fan of the bread, both the ciabatta that my sandwich came on and also the crostini-like object that came with his meal. He really enjoyed dipping them into a few of the four sauces that they have laid out for you to taste and even passed up eating more steak to dip some more bread. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely come back here again in the future. While it has a downside of only being open 10-7 Tuesday-Saturday and also is small, it is well worth the trip to the Strip District. Their food is pretty amazing and I especially love the smoky flavor on everything that comes out of Gaucho.
