| - I had a facial here, and it was not an enjoyable experience. Granted, I've only had one other facial, but that was relaxing and pampering, and this one I will describe because it was not. There was no communication besides asking what type of skin I had, and I really like when someone explains what they are doing to my body before they do it. There was none of that. The worst portion was the steam. It was just blowing straight into the middle of my face for what must have been at least 15 minutes. I kept asking for it to be moved because I could not breathe. Literally, could not breathe because hot, hot steam was being directed at my nose and mouth. It was not relaxing, it was torturous. I think I had her move it at least 6 times, and it just ended up right in my breathing space again. Plus, the steam was dripping off of my face in rivulets because it was so strong. When that part was over, she started what my friends later told me was blackhead removal. I've never had something hurt so bad. Tears were leaking out of my eyes. My nose was bruised for two days afterwards because she just scraped her way along the entire thing, including the tip. I was so swollen afterwards for the rest of that day. Maybe these are standard practices for a facial, in which case this is my last one. I just know that the first one I had at a spa in Vegas involved a lot of massaging and lotions and creams and a mask, and this one involved pain.
