| - I'm genuinely surprised about all of the positive reviews. I've gone in twice for an eyebrow wax and refuse to go back. These people are the pushiest people I've ever experienced.. Particularly for a service that is in the realm of a pampering type of experience where most of their competitors focus heavily on the guest experience and service, making them as comfortable as possible.
The experience here is in stark contrast. In a 10-15 minute wax session, I was not just asked, but repeatedly told I needed an upper lip wax, a bikini wax, their body wash, their lotion, their face products, etc., practically to the point of begging and being probed about each "no" I gave. When I went to check out, the woman who performed my wax grabbed one of the products she tried to sell me on and gave it to the receptionist to ring up. After I had repeatedly said no when she mentioned it to me. It was the rudest, most presumptuous thing I had ever experienced.
My experience my first time was similarly terrible, except this time, the woman who did my wax lectured me about not coming in every 4 weeks.. Even after I'd continuously explained that I do them myself and when I come in its a special treat to myself, when I've let it get really bad.
On top of all that, the woman at reception asked me if I wanted to leave a tip and of course I said yes. She informed me that $5 is customary for an $18 eyebrow wax. Which first off.. Verbally suggesting a tip amount? Tacky! Secondly, do the math.. That's a 27% tip.. Well over the 20-25 % I would tip for great service, certainly above the 15%-20% average.
To top it all off, these employees can't even keep straight if I've been in before, even though it says it in my file. The receptionist knew. But the woman who waxed me welcomed me on my first time, then when i corrected her, she looked at the ticket that was printed and exclaimed "oh you're right." She can't even bother to know that little about me, yet she feels perfectly comfortable trying to force products and services on me that she's "recommending as an expert on my skin type, etc."
All around just a not pleasant experience. I left feeling insulted, annoyed, and stressed.
