  • The lover's boss treated us with tickets to the high roller. I honestly had never been interested in riding it as afterall, I've been on an airplane time after time departing and arriving into Las Vegas. I think I've seen the strip enough times both day and night to know what it looks like from high above. But when you are treated with such tickets...you better believe we will enjoy that thang! We had the tickets to the pod where it was an open bar. Open bar?!?! Yessss sir!!!! But the ride itself is like 30 minutes...speed drinking?!?! Yessss sir!!! Lol. The bartender was very nice and she definitely didn't water down our alcohol. Drunk in 30 minutes? Yes, yes. It happenend. Im not ashamed i consumed so much alcohol with a cup still in my hand once the ride was done. This was a mommy and daddy night out and i was trying to seize the moment. And hey, don't forget to tip the bartender just because it's open bar...perhaps you'll end up with watered down alcohol if you fail to do so. Also, you order one drink at a time. It's not an alcohol buffet. So order one, drink it, repeat...if you get belligerent...bartender will stop serving you. But don't get speed drinking wasted where you completely miss the whole reason you're on the high roller. Guys, we have the largest observatory in the world...so observe, damnt! There are screens around the pod that shows you your elevation. Once you get to the highest peak, it's like New Year's Eve. The screen will let you know you've made it to the top of the top! Then before you know it, you're off the thing. I will say that when you look out...there's something serene about overlooking the strip. You look down knowing there's chaos and raunchyness below you...but you aren't in it. You see the lights, Bellagio's water show going off.. and it really is a nice thing to watch if you put yourself in that serene state-of-a-mind. Look, I was able to do it how many cups in...so you can too. Lol. Since we had tickets before hand...we didn't have to stand in whatever long crazy line was happening at the very entrance of the building. Once you enter, there are escalators going up that leads you to a dimmed area that serves alcohol. This part is NOT included if you have an open bar ticket. Once you get to this part, there is another escalator going up to where your souvenir photo gets taken. So get your ticket out because it'll get checked before you can even get on those escalators. After that, your ticket gets looked at again then are directed to which line you gotta stand in according to the type of ticket you have. This part is probably the worst part because if you had to stand in line to buy your ticket, then you're going to have to stand in line all over again waiting to get on a pod. They let x amount of people per pod so if it's a crazy night...I don't know how long it'll take until you get on. It gets pretty warm too with all the body heat. Can't imagine on a hot summer's night. Thankfully, our night wasn't a crazy night. We waited long enough and the pod was adequately cooled. We had a great time, but I think the high roller is more for tourists or if you are just looking for something different to do in this valley on a Friday night, etc...I don't forsee this as something I'll tell my husband, hey...let's go on the high roller this weekend. While our experience was a great one...I think if we didn't have the open bar pod, had to wait in lines forever, then 30mins after getting into the pod we are getting out...I'd probably feel a tad underwhelmed. Probably would've rated 3 stars. It was a fun night, a nice experience...but that's it for us on that one. Definitely kid friendly if they aren't afraid of heights. I'm not sure if strollers are even allowed on, so definitely double-check before booking your ticket. Enjoy!
