| - Attended a friend's wedding at the Ajax Convention Centre this past weekend.
Cocktail hour started at 5:30pm and was filled with a variety of h'or deuvres: chicken skewers, veggies, wontons, spring rolls, smoked salmon. There was more than enough for the crowd. Servers with trays full of wine, beer, caesars, and punch were plentiful.
Our 3-course menu consisted of butternut squash soup, steak with vegetables and potatoes, and crème brûlée. Soup was flavourful and hearty, beef cooked perfectly to a medium rare, but I think the crème brûlée could have been warmer.
Timing of the courses arrived appropriately between speeches and a slideshow. There were about 5-6 servers for 16 tables.
Open bar serviced (provided by the Bride & Groom) was great. There was only one bartender but she was quick. Although, at times we felt the liquors had been watered down.
I know how much effort goes into wedding planning and selecting the appropriate venue. The Ajax Convention Centre is a popular place for events in Durham region and met all of our expectations.
