| - I have been going to the Market since 1979. Of course I'm a fan- however there's been a few changes in produce over the last couple of years that are frustrating. They sell 'organic' apples- often the only ones there; but then put real, actual stickers on them, stating they're organic. These aren't the food grade stickers that are normally on fruit- these are paper stickers with real glue. I have had to peel every piece of fruit I've purchased with these stickers on them, because I can't get the glue off. Also, they don't breathe like produce stickers do- so the fruit is always rotten underneath.
Also, a couple of months ago, I had approached the owner with a couple of questions about the produce, as every apple I had bought in the last month had been rotten at the core, and several other issues had come up with regard to produce and fruit. I was concerned, as this had never come up before, and I've never had a complaint with the market. She was curt and dismissive, telling me that since their sales were the best they'd been in a long time, my opinions were wrong.
As a foodie and a strong advocate for local business, I have been deterred from the market by these recent events; this saddens me greatly. I'll still pop over occasionally for immediate needs, but my disappointment overwhelms my love of this store.
