  • My friend and I had a Stress-Fix Package here. One star for the masseuse, he was very nice and the massage overall was definitely relaxing. One star for the ladies at the front desk who were sweethearts to the end. MINUS 3 starts for the ridiculous management there. We wanted to upgrade our manicures to shellac manicures within our package. Understanding that the package has limited rulings, we offered to pay the difference and then double it. Their website said a Stress Fix manicure comes in at $55 for 60 minutes and a Shellac at $60 for 45 minutes. The manager we spoke with, refused this saying we cannot change any parts of the package else we can pay for all services a-la-carte. What kind of spa cannot even service a simple "upgrade" of a manicure to a shellac manicure?? Fine..I then counter-offered again saying we will pay whatever the percent difference is between the massage/mani/pedi in the package vs. an a-la-cart massage/shellac mani/pedi. She then quotes something ridiculous saying that the difference in pricing is $5 for the massage, $5 for the pedi, and all of a sudden....$40 difference for the mani to shellac mani. Sorry....someone's math isn't adding up and it isn't mine. When pointing this out to her, she then says the manicurists "don't have time to do a shellac for the time we reserved." I said how long does it take to do a shellac manicure? She answers "45 minutes." I said perfect, since we booked the manicure session for 1 hour, this works. She then goes on to say her next ridiculous line of "no, the ladies need to go on lunch." Sorry excuse me?? I booked a manicure session for 1 hour, but if I choose to do a shellac, I have to pay for 15 minutes of lunch time for the manicurists? Appalling. It doesn't end there. We left after just paying the massage, terminating the packages we had initially booked for 2 of us. Business lost, but I guess it's not an issue. A few days later, I noticed TWO charges, one of $185 on my credit card ($165 for massage, plus $20 tip) and a full $200 on my WaySpa gift certificate. I confirmed this with WaySpa when they checked who had "redeemed" this amount from my order...what do you know...'Intercontinental Spa.' When I finally "proved" this to Intercontinental, the manager first of all refused to admit it was their error, even when there were actual transactions posted on my account and the WaySpa account showing this. Then says to me that even though they never processed this amount, they will be "gifting" me back the full $200. Excuse me what? Do I have to say thank you for giving me back what you took? NEVER go here. Not to mention, the showers were broken, so there were 4 of us ladies waiting in line to use the ONE stall that was working. Come on Intercontinental, you can do better than this.
