  • First off, I just moved to Cleveland from Denver where I lived across the street from the best little neighborhood ice cream shop ever to exist (shout out to Lik's ice cream in Denver!). They made homemade ice cream and were always willing to try making new flavors upon request, friendly service, etc. I am very sad to be away from Lik's, but partially because I didn't think I would find an ice cream place in my new area that would fill the special place in my heart reserved for unique ice cream shops with charming interiors and interesting flavors. But now, I have Jeni's. It's totally different from the neighborhood ice cream shop, more modern and innovative with its flavors, but still fulfills the required quality of charm and friendly service--try as many flavors as you want before choosing! BASICALLY THIS IS SOME OF THE BEST ICE CREAM you'll ever have and for one main reason: the flavors are incredible! Reisling poached pear? Not even exotic by Jeni's standards. Bangkok peanut is one that I didn't try but I heard was especially spicy and delicious. Pistachio and honey, zucchini bread and parmesan, goat cheese with cherries, the list goes on. The two flavors I decided on were brambleberry crisp and dark chocolate. The brambleberry crisp ice cream was almost more like "brambleberry crisp...with some ice cream," meaning it was quite chewy, but perfect. As for the dark chocolate, I must say that I live to eat dark chocolate and this flavor did not let me down. I would not recommend it for the person who is not crazy about chocolate, but for the rest of you, get the dark chocolate! The people working were friendly and Jeni's is in a very cute part of Chagrin. We took our ice cream outside and looked at the waterfall on the bridge a few steps away. Since my review is already so long, let me include this little paragraph I found in the "who we are" section of the Jeni's website: We create ice creams we fall madly in love with, that we want to bathe in, that make us see million-year-old stars. We devour it out of Mason jars, coffee mugs--whatever we can get our hands on. Handmade American ice cream = Bliss with a big B. Every single thing we put in our ice cream is legit. Generic chemist-built ice cream bases and powdered astronaut-friendly gelato mixes? No, ma'am. We build every recipe from the ground up with luscious, Snowville milk and cream from cows that eat grass. Hooray for Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams! ps. Also purchased a lavender soda to try later.
