  • I began going to Versa back in 2013. I was very pleased with the service and customer service. Unfortunately, the owner of this establishment is its biggest downfall and why the business WILL eventually fail. Another black owned business down the drain. The Pros: Beautifully decorated and great ambiance. It really does rival some of the other more established salons in the city. The stylists---until the owner drives them all away with her tyrannical behavior. The Cons: Where do I start. First, this salon has only been able to survive this long because of the wonderful stylist Matisa. Matisa was the best stylist in the salon even surpassing the owner. Matisa is no longer here. In fact, every single stylist and receptionist that was here back in September (only 6 months ago) is gone. The turnover is ridiculous. The owner, Kisha, goes through staff the way people go through underwear. I was a regular. I got my hair done here every single week. Every single week. I only continued going because of Matisa. On one occasion, the owner was unhappy that Matisa was running behind (which had NEVER happened). Matisa tried to make all her clients happy so when I requested something different then regular she tried to accommodate me which threw her behind. The owner made no efforts in letting me know that it was my fault that she was running behind. She even pulled Matisa off my hair to berate her about it. This was all in my presence. I felt so bad that I just wanted to leave. A customer should NEVER feel this way. Matisa tried to reassure me that everything was ok, I knew that the owner felt differently. In fact, the owner did not care that I was uncomfortable. She never apologized nor spoke to me again when I came into HER establishment. :( Even prior to this encounter, the owner had a disposition of arrogance. She is certainly not a people person. She judges people by what she thinks they have. She never knew I am a Lawyer. If she had known she would have certainly treated me differently. And her hair styling isn't the best either. She is insecure about her styling ability and jealous of her staff, telling receptionists not to compliment their work. Very insecure. I wanted this salon to succeed because the owner is black and it would diversify things here in Charlotte.....unfortunately, this opportunity was given to the wrong woman. If you ride pass the salon there are never any customers. No profit is being made here. Kisha: Bide your time. It wont be long before this goes under. And all the staff you've pissed off will purchase that space and operate a GREAT salon. Beware potential clients.
