  • I had a freaking blast at this run. I saw The Strip closed down last year for this run, and it was then I made the goal to run it in 2016. Fast forward to 2016, and I am signed up for the 10k! I am not a runner. I used to be a great sprinter, but never a long distance runner. However, I figured I could manage the 10k, and I did it! My goal was 14-15 minute mile on average to be fair, but I got a big surprise after the finish line. I think they need to make the corrals a little wider or have people telling racers to squish together a little so everyone could get it in. Not the end of the world, but small improvements make a big difference. For me, the monorail was fine but mostly because I took it from MGM to SLS. Locals get to ride for $1 any time of the week, so take advantage of it! They had plenty of people there to direct the crowds. I didn't like how at one point if you weren't running the Marathon or Half Marathon, the running area got a little skinnier, so it was to maneuver around many people who were walking at that point. My time would have been better if I didn't have to run on a slant near the curb or hop between the curb to the road to get around people. Had the lane been wider, this problem wouldn't have been such an issue. However, I still ran about a 13 mile run which wasn't bad for having an injury and not being able to train for 3 weeks before the run. I loved running The Strip at night. So many sights to see, and I loved all the people cheering the runners on. So much fun, and their encouragement was welcomed! 45k people from 83 countries ran 1 of these races over the weekend. Incredible. I can't wait to do this run every single year until my knees and back won't let me anymore!
