| - At long last, a restaurant that serves inexpensive non-sushi Japanese food, much like what real Japanese people eat most of the time. This seems to be the closest Cleveland equivalent to Yoshinoya's on the west coast, except not fast food and much better. I ordered the unagi don, broiled eel on rice, a typical summer dish. The meal came with miso soup and a small salad, for about $10. My companion ordered the oyako don, chicken and egg on rice, another typical Japanese dish. The rice in the unagi don was a little soft, and the soup was a little salty, but unlike many Japanese restaurants in this area the cook clearly understood authentic Japanese food. In the garden seating area, we could actually see the plants where tomatoes for the salad were growing. I'm coming back next time I'm at Larchmere. Good, healthy, inexpensive food is hard to find, and this place tops my list in that category.
