  • My visit started out ok. I went in with what I thought was my rear brakes grinding. They had a special running $99.95 per axle for basic brakes. I left my truck so they could do an estimate. Needless to say I was shocked when they called saying it was going to be over $900 because I needed new calipers, and rotors on the front as well as the basic brake job. Told me that the passenger side caliper was completely locked up and they couldn't even turn the wheel. I told them my husband would take care of the front brakes and to please just do the back. The guy that called seemed mad and even told me that my truck was unsafe to drive and should just be parked until fixed (which was my plan.) I was quoted $149 for the back brakes. I figured this was the $99.95 plus maybe a new rotor, so didn't question it. My fault. I called back about 30 minutes later to find out how long the job would take. I was told 2 hours. 4 hours later, not done. When I went to pick up my truck the total was $165. What?? Where did the extra $ come from. I figured maybe tax and didn't question. Again my fault. I checked the receipt when I got home and was surprised to find that nothing extra was done above the basic brake job, yet I was charged $149.95 for brakes and labor (what happened to the $99.95 special?). I was also charged an additional $10.50 for associated materials. The receipt says I approved this increase over the phone. I never approved the increase. The time listed as when they received approval doesn't even match up to the times I talked to them. Now on to the front brake issue. When my husband got the wheels off and checked the brakes, it was clear the guy was trying to talk me in to expensive work by exaggerating the problem. While I did go ahead and replace both rotors, calipers, and brake pads, the passenger side caliper was not totally locked up as I was told. My husband was able to turn the wheel by hand. The cost for the parts was also significantly less than this shop was charging. We only paid $220 for all parts. The job took my husband (not a pro with special tools) a couple hours to complete so even with $100/hour for labor the job should have cost $400-$500 not over $900. Needless to say, I feel like they we trying to take advantage of me. Thankfully I had my husband to check things out and do the job or else I would have paid the $900+ they wanted to charge. I will definitely not be recommending this shop to friends and family.
