  • UPDATED ON JANUARY 30, 2014 After writing the below review and taking the customer satisfaction survey sent out by the hotel after I returned home, I was contacted by the hotel via e-mail. They genuinely addressed all of my concerns and I am 100% satisfied with their response to these issues below and another that I mentioned in the e-mail. As a result, I added a star to the review and plan to return. ================================================== I usually wait until a stay is complete before Yelping but in this case the atrocity that they call their internet service has driven me mad enough to write mid-stay. Yes, even Vegas, some people like to be moderately productive during the day. This was my first time in this hotel and my first time in Las Vegas. I'll start with the somewhat positive. The price is decent for the location in just about the heart of the strip. My room was clean, the housekeeping staff were excellent and the check in woman did a nice job of getting me an early room since I happened to fly in early. I am not typically picky with hotels because for me they are usually nothing more than a place to sleep and when on vacation, I am usually outside. But I do need a functional internet. The Negative - It's bad enough they charge the so-called "resort fee" (I do realize that is par for the course out here) but to charge it for a service that barely works is unconscionable. The only access to the internet in the rooms in this hotel is through an Ethernet cable; yes, in 2015, just an Ethernet cable (anyone know if there is a port for that on an iPad? That is just absurd. They do of course claim that the resort fee covers coffee, a newspaper, use of a printer for boarding passes (in 2015?, smart phone anyone?) - all things I can get for free at a 29.99 per night rest stop motel. Anyway, I digressed, back to the Ethernet cable connection. I did happen to bring my laptop for some strange reason, something I barely ever use to begin with. When I realized this hotel had no WiFi in the rooms (yes, no WiFi in the rooms in 2015) I was at least relieved to plug in the Ethernet cable into my laptop. Let's just say in 1997 if I was using AOL and dial-up my speed would have been faster. It was slow to the point where it was just plain useless. Due to the historic blizzard that blanketed the northeast my flight was cancelled and I was forced to stay an extra two nights (it's Vegas, I don't mind being stuck here!). However, when adding the extra two nights on to the stay, and explaining the extenuating circumstances and showing the CNN headline which quoted the weather service as calling the storm life threatening, I thought I might get a little break on the price for the extra two nights - nope. As for the restaurants in the hotel (Brand and The Pub), I will Yelp them separately but they will be positive reviews. Conclusion - If you want a reasonably priced hotel in the center of the action with a decent steak house and have no plans to use the internet, then this place would work. If you're like me and like to occasionally check your e-mail and do even a little work when you are away, don't bother.
