  • Visited DeLaney's a few weeks back for the first time to preview some items (couches and a kitchen table set). Met Charles, the owner, who was very courteous and helpful in explaining the auction process. Unfortunately, the auction itself was cut short that evening, as there was a small fire and the building lost power. Charles let everybody know that if anybody was interested in a particular item, we could come back the next day and he'd sell it outright at what he considered a "fair auction price". Neither my wife nor myself had any idea what a "fair auction price" was, but decided to head back down and take a look. We walked out with 2 couches, a kitchen table set (table with 6 chairs), 3 additional counter-height chairs for our kitchen island, a coffee table, and a wardrobe. All at what was apparently a "fair auction price", but definitely a fair price overall. I feel bad that I missed out on the "auction experience", but I'm thrilled at the prices we got on what look to be very high quality items. We will definitely head back one of these Wednesdays, even though we don't necessarily need anything, if only because the auction experience looked like a lot of fun, and because the people at DeLaney's seem like genuinely good people, and the types of people with whom you'd want to do business.
