Zero stars for honesty. Four stars for workmanship. Why? I bought a HE efficient unit and was told it had a 12 year warranty. When I went to print the warranty from the manufacturer, it only had 10 years. When confronted I was told that Patrick Riley AC took on the last two years. My concern is: What if they go out of business? ("So could the manufacturer" was their reply. Not acceptable)
How could they have avoided this? Simply tell me the truth: The manufacturer warranties the unit for ten years but because we believe in this system, our company will extend the warranty an additional two years. I don't know what this system would have cost without the extras - five years of "free" checkups and two years additional warranty, but I'm curious.
Four stars because the installation was on time and went smoothly, however, the workman dumped sand into the unit and there was stalling over cleaning up the mess made when the sand decorated half the house. The cleaners finally sent out after over a week (by then I had cleaned up everything I could reach as I wouldn't eat or cook on sand covered counters and table) didn't know what they were doing and were limited to only those areas I hadn't cleaned. I had to clean up after they left as they were spray and wipe queens. The sand just went to the lowest point in the room close to the furniture. They were supposed to vacuum everything. No kudos for Merry Maids here.
The unit HAS lowered costs overall and runs well but the hassles in dealing with the sand and warranty issues really detracted from the overall event.
