Super cool, little contemporary art studio, housing permanent and rotating exhibits by leading artists who are focused on asking questions and sparking conversations. Housed in an old mattress factory (hence the name), the main building space is broken up by floors with a few exhibits curated for each floor. The dark room exhibit on the 2nd floor proved to be the most memorable and thought-provoking of my trip. It challenged my ability to function in an unknown - literally pitch black - and played with my sense of near and far, and what is seen and the unseen. Other memorable pieces included the conversation bubbles (in the main building), and the spider webs that covered the entire home, located in one of the nearby buildings owned and operated by the Mattress Factory.
I thought the admission price was a little steep for what it was, but I'm all for supporting artists, so it wasn't too hard for me to open my wallet. Check out the gift shop when you leave for some funky finds.
