  • I came to Vegas to see the last of her 5 shows of her 4 year residency stint with modest and realistic expectations. I wasn't expecting this to be like the other show I see on a regular basis. Instead of being Mrs. critical I just shut my brain off and enjoyed. For me this show was musical junk food. The fun in Vegas is to see a review cabaret. Ironically the hotel local cabaret shows were more expensive than an upper balcony Britney ticket. Why spend $40 more dollars when I can see a childhood pop star celebrity performing the songs that I grew up with? First of all a huge thank you to the staff at the Axis Planet Hollywood who were super nice. They were very encouraging of people getting up and dancing which is something that would never happen In Vancouver (the attitude). Britney lip synched the whole show which is what I honestly expected. Britney hasn't sung live since 2002. She lost her vocal range drop after baby number 2 and the songs, unless remixed, don't work in another key. It was odd during her older hits that she was singing along to her 90's baby voice backing tracks even though he vocals are currently in a deeper register. Her dance moves were calculated to ensure that she was able to sustain her 4 year Vegas contract. I also don't think she ever fully recovered from her 2004 knee injury. She limited herself to a lot of hair tossing and arm movements while her dancers did the heavy lifting. At the end of the day it was all about the moment for me. It was a cheap evening for me. The older songs were presented as medleys. The focus was more on new material from the past 10 years which I honestly have more affection for cause it's Britney with a bit more of a f*ck you attitude. The post breakdown songs are very tale telling and honest. The show was a total girl's night out. Mostly girls and gay boys. Most of the straight guys looked as though they were dragged by their wives. Britney was always an artist that connected with young girls and women much like Madonna. Prior to the show I just hung out with a bunch of girls from California there for a bachelorette party. There were a lot of bachelorette parties in attendance. Everyone in the audience was singing along to reach other. The show was calculated with no stage banter. The theme flowed nicely. Technically speaking show stage set up was cool and the costumes were gorgeous. There was no personal connection between audience and performer, therefore, the connections were made with my fellow peers around me. The whole evening was a Britney Karaoke night with a room full of strangers. The show did loose some steam near the end as most of her greatest hits were mostly done and the new material near the end failed to have project the same pizzaz. I could tell the audience was getting a little bit restless. Part of it may have been Britney getting on stage 30 minutes late pushing the rest of the evening. I honestly did mentally check out during those 3 songs in a row. Things did pick up at the end during her two encores. In theory I could've left, however, I had to wait for Peter to come pick me up since I didn't know how to get back to the hotel. I was into it for the first 70 minutes which was worth the trip to Vegas for me. Under contract she has to play 100 minutes hence the weak fillers. There are no screens and everyone was sanding, therefore, I only saw 10% of the show cause I'm too short. The staff did their best to re seat me, however, it was completely sold out. I missed 90% of her dancing. Very audience unfriendly. Personal highlights: 1. Every time where Britney was dressed as an Angel in a snow storm. The confetti was snowflakes. 2. Keep on Dancing Until The World ends has always been one of my favorite songs off of Femme Fetal. It's also the song that Britney had the most fun performing. 3. You Better Work Bitch is a sassy song and it was both the first and last song of the evening. Compared to the other shows of the 4 year run, this was actually the best show from other reviews and opinions. It was Britney coming back after a 4 year break all rejuvenated.
