rev:text	An elderly widowed neighbor lady who we take to church every Sunday was recently phoned/solicited by One Hour Refrigeration and Heating and was offered a FREE AC check and tune-up. So she invited them to her house this past Saturday. Her unit was working fine. When we took her to church on Sunday she told us that they had given her a quote of $2103 for repair of her unit or $9500 for a new unit -- reduced to $8700 for her being a veteran. Thank goodness she said no and needed to check with someone else first for an opinion. Looking over the paper work, the technician's name was Ethan Ames and he had written those exact figures on the work order. Of course, my friend said "But he was such a nice man". We couldn't quite make out the age of the AC unit but knew it was approximately 10 years old based on when her husband died. Thanks to neighbors on "Next Door",K&R Refrigeration was recommended. It just so happened K&R had installed her unit in 2007. Today K&R came out and checked her unit. Although it had a bit of rust, it was still operating fine and needed absolutely no work. They came prepared with a price of a new unit just in case, based on my phone call (they were horrified by the $9500 price of a new unit) and their quote was $5400. What a difference in price AND what wonderful peace of mind they gave my elderly friend by saying no work was needed at this time. They also were horrified at how another company was so willing to take advantage - basically steal -- from an elderly person. Stay away from One Hour Refrigeration and Cooling.
