| - I stayed here with my son's hockey team for a tournament this past weekend. The night staff treated each and every guest as if we were prisoners. After 11:00 pm, it is Martial Law. Even if you are sitting in the lounge and talking quietly with friends over a couple of beers, uniformed security guards close in on you and demand that you go to your room like a child.
When you go to your room, and leave the door open, and you are not disturbing anyone, these same mall cops walk by like a scene out of "The Shawshank Redemption" and give you the stink eye.
They did make a small conference room available to all hockey teams until 12:00 am. But there were 8-10 teams staying there, and the room was big enough for four tables. And, at 11:59:59 pm, they chased us everyone out of there. One team had a late game, and had just gotten their pizza delivered. Too bad, said the manager, go to bed.
When one of or parents tried to reason with the staff in a civil manner, the desk clerk called the police. Fortunately, the police laughed at the manager and left.
We wanted to have a team lunch in the cafe. They gave us a limited menu, and tap water was the only beverage of choice.
They have no idea how to deal with kids. No mini-stick games, no running, just stay in your room and shut up you miserable little punks.
I do not want to spend a extra $40 over the weekday rate to have a high school dropout making minimum wage mess with me. Adam Carolla's concept of the "Minimum Wage Gilded Cage" is alive and well at Embassy Suites.
