| - I went through the trouble of adding this Canadian Tire location as a business because I've been disappointed far too many times. I go to this store because it is a convenient location and they sometimes have good sales promotions.
I'm aware Canadian Tire isn't known for customer service at all. I go in fully expecting to be on my own, wandering aimlessly like a zombie in a post-nuclear war world. I'm fine with that. This location has been frustrating even with that mindset because it's more disorganized than most CT locations, and the staff are less motivated than at other branches.
I've been to the store on three separate occasions looking for specific items that I found on their website. Each time I went, the products were nowhere to be found, even though their website and inventory system showed the product in stock. I want to buy from them and give them business, but it's like they're hiding what I want.
Customer service is terrible to begin with, but this store somehow sets the bar lower. If you ever want to buy a product that's locked behind a glass door, be prepared to wait 15 minutes before tracking someone down who can open it. If someone is checking for an item in their back room, that's another 15 minutes.
I once asked an employee a question about a fan that I wanted to buy. He was walking away from me as he answered, "You can just open the box and check yourself, just don't tell anyone I said so." I think that sums up their attitude.
I taught myself how to use their inventory system at the unmanned computer terminals around the store (imagine the old school library databases from the 80s). Before I go to the store, I check their website for product numbers and write them down. I check their inventory myself to make sure there is actual stock in the store or in other locations, then I go hunting.
I gave them an extra star because of its close proximity to Home Depot.
