| - OK, I have to honestly say that this place was the *most* fun I've had so far anywhere in Montreal, pretty much. The clientele are all local neighbourhood kids, and the staff seem to know everyone, even if they don't know you, you know what I mean? Big smiling guy at the door who will shake your hand as you're leaving, making sure you feel welcome to come back anytime.
It might have just been because it was a game night and everyone's team was winning, but the vibe was so high and so joyous in this place that I couldn't help but grin the entire time I was there. Also, I didn't know there was a French version of Achy-Breaky but yep, I know now that there is because that was playing full blast and everyone in the place was singing along to it. This place just FEELS like Montreal, the real deal.
So, the food? Ceviche is PERFECT. NOM. Nachos not so much - soggy and kinda lacklustre. I'd say stay away from the nachos - besides, there are so many other intriguing things to order on the menu that what was I even thinking ordering nachos?? Oh, snap. The guac was also really yummy. The couple next to us had a sizzling something or other that looked amazing. So, it's fair as far as Tex Mex goes. Like I said, the ceviche is a sure thing: salmon, scallops, shrimp and some white fish.
Hilarious? Rolls of toilet paper on the tables, you know, as napkins, or... like if you need to go to the bathroom, just take it with you, I guess!
The décor is a beautiful mess of the most odd mix of things, like the bumper car full of mannequins strapped to one corner of the ceiling, for instance. That's just the beginning!
I will definitely go back, for the vibe alone and maybe for the ceviche, and that's saying something in a city full of so many great restaurants that it's hard to do them all.
