The place is great for a couple of hours of doing your homework or some other life task. But the coffee is just OK. I have tasted better through many travels. I always order the piccolo because it has that little mix that softens the bitter espresso taste. I am a coffee snob, so I like my expresso straight. Most Americans prefer the sugary, fatty ice cream coffees - that is not for me. I want the real deal. They used to give a little glass of sparkling water with the coffee - but not anymore. Most service industry businesses are hurting for their record profits.
The owners are Australians and they offer 'Australian food.' How many Australian restaurants have you visited recently? Stay away from their Austro-British pies, they are almost inedible. And they don't offer Vegemite sauce either to soften the bitter taste.
The staff are quite nice and friendly - except for the woman with the black hair tied up - she seems to have that American worker fatigue syndrome. When customers come around a half an hour before closing, she is not that happy to see you.
The issue is not just Maverick. I see the rudeness in the service industry everywhere now. I especially see it in the Phoenix Metro Area. A lot of people receive slave wages and have life-destroying wage slave jobs. It is quite sad to see. Better to eat at home and buy your own Italian cafetera.
