This review is specifically based on the Tres Leches Cake. Here are the reasons that it's absolutely incredible and why you should try it as soon as possible.
1. My good foodie friend Mr. P has dubbed it as one of his very favorites when it comes to cakes/deserts and specifically requests it for special occasions. This is definitely the only bakery in the city that he would go to for this kind of cake.
2. I'm not usually a fan of Tres Leches Cakes, but this one won me over! It wasn't overly wet and runny consistency wise. It also was the perfect amount of sweet. I've tasted others that are not only sickeningly sweet, but have this artificial sweet flavor that is terribly unpleasant.
3. The slice of this cake that I tried was one that I took home from a party, put in the freezer and defrosted a week later. Not only did it maintain the way it looked - the liquids hadn't separated from the solids, it wasn't looking weird or any different at all - but it also tasted absolutely incredible. Perfect consistency and absolutely incredible flavor for not only the moist cake but from the whipped, creamy frosting as well!
This place was already on my to-do list, but I don't know that I would've tried this cake specifically. Thank goodness my foodie friends chose it for a recent celebration and now I have seen the light. I can't wait to venture to this bakery myself to have more of this cake and see what other goodies they've mastered!
