| - I am a Marriott snob, I prefer the Marriott chain of hotels.. so I've stayed at various properties in many cities. This location was not at the top of my list, but it was up to par - for the most part.
My flight got into Charlotte very late, so it was close to 2am by the time I checked in. When I walked into the front lobby the worker had several of his friends hanging out behind the desk with him - they all quickly scattered and he was still very attentive, but I found this lacking professionalism.
My room was average.. a king size bed, a VERY small sitting chair, a desk and a small flat screen tv. There was a musty mildew type smell but I thought maybe letting the fan run for awhile would get rid of it. The next morning it still smelled funny, so when I mentioned it to the front desk they very promptly moved me into a nicer, bigger room with a sitting area (and a better smell.) The rooms appear to have been recently updated, the carpet and curtains are nice/clean, the fixtures are great, and having a mini fridge + microwave is a great feature. Plenty of cable channels to choose from, too.
I agree with the other reviews about noise. I could hear doors slamming and conversations at all times. The hotel was not even close to full, so I really believe this to be a construction flaw.
The breakfast was very... meh. The eggs were super runny, the meat didn't look appealing. I opted to go out for breakfast the second morning.
The hotel has easy access to downtown, the outlet mall, restaurants, the airport, Wal Mart, etc. It's a great location! Free parking + free breakfast + free WiFi makes it even better!
