  • Spirit of math is a terrible excuse for an educational institution. A place that does not have the decency nor the common sense to treat individuals, especially children, with respect has no right to call themselves educators. I wish there was a way to give this place a negative star as it would be more accurate. This program was recommended to me by another educator, who thought given my daughter's aptitude, she could use a more challenging environment for her math skills. I was asked to come in with a recent report card to attend an interview session to evaluate and discuss feasibility of the program for my child. When I got there, they were completely unprofessional and did not have an appointment for us, even though I had a confirmation email. After some discussion, what was intended to be an interview started off as a cold and effortless, here's an evaluation for your child to complete without any guidance of what was expected. What followed was a series of frustrating attempts to confuse my otherwise intelligent child on questions like which one is Andrew and which one is David and which one is a pencil and which one is an eraser and vice versa, to eventually conclude, TO HER FACE, that she is not ready for the program and that we could try again next year. The program's co-founder claims that their mission is to promote co-operation, inspire confidence, and release the genius in every child. I think the above scenario is a clear indication that their staff was neither cooperative, nor left my child any more confident than she walked in. I highly discourage every parent to put their child through the experience my child suffered at the hands of this organization. No one should have a right to make your child feel they aren't good enough. The point of education is to ensure kids strive to learn and improve, and not be shredded to pieces because someone else lacks the compassion and communication to do so gently/with discretion.
