| - My husband and I are super happy regarding our dealings with AutoNation Ford Scottsdale. A week ago Monday I contacted Jon Kerwick, one of the sales guys at this dealership because of a car my husband saw on the internet. I asked if there was anyone to get that car out the door a certain price.
He couldn't get me that price, but asked me if there was something else I wanted or maybe a different model of the 2015 Ford Taurus. We were going to pay cash for the car and we were limited to X dollars. I told him I wanted a 2015 Ford Taurus SEL, white, nothing additional added because it comes with a lot already.
A couple hours later, he called me and said he had found what I wanted at another local dealership. We talked and I was very excited and surprised that out the door, we could get the Taurus we wanted for X dollars. He said he would need $1K down, so it would mean I was serious to buy it as they would have to get the car from a different dealership.
That was not an issue. But, I was leery of giving my debit card to him, maybe because I was distrustful and that was a lot of money to give over the phone. But, I was the one who had called the dealership and it was not him soliciting me for the car. He said if it would make me feel comfortable, he would provide me with his driver's license, which he did.
In the meantime, I called other Ford dealerships and even had a couple people I knew who sold cars to see if they could get me a better deal. One of the people I knew said he could go a little lower, but he was not from a major dealership. Every time Jon said he would communicate with me, he did. He did exactly what I asked, provided super clear, concise, efficient communication to me and very timely. He never just held out and didn't tell me what was going on.
Also, Jon never high pressure me into anything and was super easy going. He was attentive to what we wanted and did not try to up sell us on anything. Jon was super professional and didn't seem like some sleazy car salesman.
In conjunction, we worked with Brian Dillon (not sure how to spell his name) the finance guy. I already told Jon that we would not be buying any extended warranty and we were never pressured to do this. However, Jon did tell me that Brian would at least need to make his presentation and at least give us the opportunity that he needs to give all his customers.
Brian did talk with us about financing, but I did not want to finance. He said it would save us $1.5K+. The reason why I didn't want to finance was because of some financial issues I had in the past that had knocked my credit score down. Anyway, I explained it to him and my husband had encouraged me to just try. Brian also explained to me why Ford would not offer my husband credit at this time is because of his immigrant status and that Ford will not loan to anyone a loan that is longer than their stay in the U.S. legally, which would end before the end of this year, unless we renew things.
So, that is why no lender will lend to my husband, at least for now. When his green card gets extended near the end of this year for 10 years, then it will be no problem, at least for a car loan. So that made sense. This is NOT something that a different Ford dealer near where we live told us.
Anyway, Brian and Gabe were able to get me approved through Ford Credit for 3/5ths of the loan. I put a 2/5ths down on the car. So the X dollars we thought we were going to spend, it was $X - $1.5K+. Brian and Gabe went over how long to keep the loan to really help my credit score.
If I pay off the loan in 6 months, my credit score should go up 30+ points. However, if I wait another 6-7 months, my credit score should go up another 40+ points on top of the points the 6-7 months prior. Paying most of the loan off minus 1 year's payments will really boost my credit, getting close to the excellent range and it will only be a little over $200 in interest, which I will still be about $1300 more in my pocket overall.
No high pressure sales from anyone. I've called Jon a bunch of times since for different questions and he's always been available, courteous and professional. We also decided that we wanted the windows tinted, which makes this a much nicer looker car.
It's a great looking car and we got it for less than my mom paid for her Fusion 1.5 years ago, where our car is bigger and has more features. Cool beans!!!
When we came back on Tuesday to get the window tinting done, it was good. They did a great job. We love the car.
Highly recommend this dealership, especially Jon Kerwick (he's the super tall guy - he's 7' tall) and Brian Dillon for the finance guy. Our car buying experience was very fun, enjoyable and stress free from the dealership.
