I have to say that my experience with St. Joseph's labor and delivery was excellent. I went in on 4/28/15 to have my son. I was quickly moved through triage and into my labor and delivery room. I wanted to have a natural birth with no meds. I was asked only once if I wanted pain meds and when I said no they didn't ask again. My nurse and midwife also encouraged me and told me I could do it.
They offer a package for people without insurance so you get a discount.
The reason I chose St. Joseph's hospital is because they offered the cash discount and they allow you to move around during your labor. They do have to monitor you for 20 minutes every hour but they will let you take a shower, use a birthing ball or walk around.
My only slight issue would have been that when calling to get information about the midwife unit they didn't say that delivery was included in their package cost. I would have been seeing a midwife through my whole pregnancy had I of known that the package included delivery. This caused me some irritation since I still have to pay for the prenatal package and all I get from it is the delivery and the post labor exam.
Overall I would say that I had a wonderful midwife and nurses. Also that my experience was great. I would recommend this hospital to other mothers.
