| - Please avoid at all cost and go to Toronto Honda. This place has the worst customer service and will abandon you as soon as you leave a deposit.
I went in to purchase a brand new 2016 Honda CR-V and we almost came to an agreement on a price but they wouldn't budge. They ended up showing a "demo" model 2015 CR-V with 17,000km. Pretty sure a demo should have less than 10,000km but that's not the point. We agreed to a price and we signed the contract. Up until that point everything was great but once we signed that contract, the customer service took a nose dive. Honda Financial wouldn't approve the deal without a co-signer. I called back to speak to the financing officer but kept getting his voicemail. It took him 24hrs to return my call, and when he did he said he spoke to the Honda Financing department and they came back and said they need a co-signer. Not sure how that relationship works or what he told them but he didn't seem to understand that when I say I can't get a co-signer that he should maybe ask what else would work; that took him another 48hrs to call me back about and when he did he said Honda Financing said they would accept a 20% down payment instead of a co-signer. I said great please call me back by 5 o'clock cause I have to call my insurance come. He never called me back. I called him the following day and I asked when I can pick up the car and he said next week because while all this was going on, they had not even removed it from the showroom.I said forget it, I'm done and I'll pick-up my deposit and go to another dealership.
Now the fun part starts, the other dealership gave me a better deal on the car I wanted with even more bells and whistles then Honda Downtown. They were very sympathetic about all the issues I was having with Honda Downtown and would work with me to get me approved. I thought, "amazing, this worked out perfectly." Unfortunately for me, Honda Downtown would come back to bite me. The financing officer, called me the day after signing and told me that Honda Financing was asking for 20% in addition to a co-signer. I asked how is this possible as not only are we asking for a lease agreement vs a financing agreement with lower monthly payments and the vehicle remains in Honda's name, but that the vehicle was a different vehicle. That's when I was informed of a little known rule at Honda Financing that states, multiple applications from different dealerships will be flagged as duplicates so long as the first application is still open. I understand that rule as it protects against fraud. So I tried contacting Honda Downtown to have them cancel the application so I may continue my business with Toronto Honda; no response. Every person I called went straight to voicemail, no emails were responded to for a week. Until finally the sales manager emailed me back and said he would look into it. A week goes by and I started calling again. And again, no answers just voicemails. I finally called irate and mad and was transfered to the GM's cell phone. He wasn't aware of anything going on. A couple minutes later I got a call from the sales manager Dennis van Lith who was emailing Honda Finance while on the phone with him requesting they delete the application. That's not what I asked so of course they came back and said no we can't delete an application. That's because you have to give them all the information so they know to cancel and accept Honda Toronto's application.
From start to finish, the dealings I've had with this dealership has nothing short of infuriating. The all seem so lost, confused and perplexed by anything I've asked them to do. I got all my info just by calling up Honda Financing, and took approximately 10 minutes. Run as fast you can from this dealership because as soon as you sign that contract, you will be trapped, and like me, might never be able to escape.
