  • quote kw?t/ verb 1. repeat or copy out (a group of words from a text or speech), typically with an indication that one is not the original author or speaker. "he quoted a passage from the Psalms" synonyms: recite, repeat, reproduce, retell, echo, parrot, iterate; More 2. give someone (the estimated price of a job or service). "the agent quoted a fare of $180" noun You see I included that definition because no one seems to understand what the definition of a quote genuinely is. Moving on. My boyfriend and I had been living together for six months before deciding to move into a larger apartment. None of the things from my parents house were there so we needed to find a moving company who would be willing to go to three different locations with one location being a good 30 miles from the final location. Everyone else we called was triple the amount that Falcon quoted us and money talks so we booked quickly and hashed out all the details. I was very upfront with the distance they would have to drive, how many stairs they would have to go up and down (definitely two but I wasn't sure whether our end location would have stairs because of how our condos are configured.) and the woman on the phone graciously informed that the first stairs were free but we would have to pay for the extra ones - she quoted me somewhere around $600 dollars. I was relieved after booking, coming off of ankle reconstruction surgery and my boyfriend working 60+ hours a week it was a load off our shoulders.. until I began to read all the horrible reviews. People being overcharged hundreds, thousands of dollars, their stuff being stolen or broken, I was on the phone with my boyfriend the day before our moving day telling him if it happened to be a couple thousand more that we were already committed and to just be aware. I was worried, we had opened a credit card for the occasion so we had some leeway but I don't think I spent an ounce of the night before sleeping - just dreaming of sky high rates. Moving day comes and the guys are already calling, they're early. I drive the 30 minutes down to my mother's house where they're waiting for me patiently with nothing but big ole' smiles on their faces. One of them sits down with me to go over terms and conditions - what the quote was beginning, how'd we owe more if there was a third set of stairs, how they didn't cover the cost of cardboard (ikea) furniture, what they did cover if something did become damaged, etc. The guys were already loading all my stuff into the van and within probably ten minutes we were on our way to the apartment complex. Now our complex has driveways to their units so they backed up and quickly began loading the items. It was sweaty, it was hot, but every one of them was nothing but in good spirits the entire time. Laughing, cracking jokes, and all of our stuff made it out of that apartment and into the van with pads and packing tape and in perfect condition. Our other apartment was in the same complex but with the realization of another set of stairs not a groan was heard, not a wince was noticed. They put down everything exactly where we wanted it, assembled our beds and such together, took off all the padding and shipping tape and left our apartment in the exact place that it is today. I was thoroughly impressed. We paid $800 overall, the extra stairs were $200 which she had notified me before and the guys got a hefty tip. Now maybe it was because all of our belongings were properly packed already, maybe it was because everything was organized in a central location (obviously other than our large furniture) so they didn't have to pick or choose, maybe it was because they didn't have to pack our stuff, or because it was a same day move, maybe we were just lucky because our apartments have actual driveways to them or because we had someone supervising them or maybe a little bit of everything above. But they were nothing but light-hearted, courteous, customer oriented, and pleasant through the entire experience. Our $10 Ikea tables made it in perfect condition, not even a light bulb was broken, and we were thrilled after hearing such negative reviews that we could be one of the positive ones. Thanks Falcon Relocation!
