| - I love the fact that Planet Hollywood is at the center of the Strip and offers a wide variety of things to do without having to leave the hotel (Miracle Mile Shops, fast food and high end restaurants, Fat Tuesday, swimming, spa, etc). While I did have an overall enjoyable stay here, there are definitely aspects of the hotel that can be improved upon.
I had reserved a non-smoking "Hip" room with a king bed, but upon check-in, realized they had put me in a smoking room that smelled heavily of marijuana. I went back down to the front desk immediately and let them know that I had booked a non-smoking room, but they informed me that they had no non-smoking rooms available at the time. The woman at the front desk offered for housekeeping to come up and spray my room with air freshener, but I declined the offer.
She then let me know that they could accommodate my reservation by performing a room change the next day. She said they would upgrade me to a larger, non-smoking room on a higher level, and that I would receive a phone call as soon as my new room was ready.
By 3pm the next day, I still hadn't heard from the front desk, so I called down to see if my upgraded room was ready. The woman at the front desk said it was, so I'm not sure why they hadn't called me. I will say that I was satisfied with my upgraded room. It was larger, very clean, and had a nice view of the strip.
That same day, my husband and I visited the swimming pool. Unfortunately, we were a bit turned off by the pool area. There were empty beer cans, bottles, and cups laying everywhere, debris in the pool and hot tub, and even the cabanas that you could rent appeared to be dirty and had stained cushions. We ended up leaving the pool area after about 20-30 mins.
As I mentioned earlier, I LOVE the location of Planet Hollywood and some of its amenities, but it wouldn't be my first choice to stay at when visiting Vegas again.
