  • Stopped by as first stop on way to check in to hotel...I wanted to adore this place so much...but could not...it just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be...I was excited by the reviews and pics but the food was not as good as the pics appeared...we started with great sake called karatamba...super dry and tasty...also had the sparking sake which everyone always loves. Then had the beef tongue which was tasty but not amazing...then had some crab tempura...they put a leaf in there that overwhelmed the crab taste...not sure why they would do that but tempura was very well done...but overall taste did not hit the spot at all...then had the whole sea robin which was tasty...then had the scallop bbq which was good but not great...the chicken cartilage which was pretty good!! The omakase 4 item dish was good value with Japanese shrimp and toro and wayugu beef but it still was not great...then had the uni with egg and that was fantastic!!! Ended with grilled squid which was served mildly cold...it was soft and tender but not outstanding. So maybe my standards are high from eating in LA so much but this definitely did not live up to the hype or rating on yelp. 3.5 stars overall...cannot say I will come back unfortunately!!
