Two words: potato waffles. They are heaven! I never want to eat another savory waffle any other way!
I got the smoked salmon with dill potato waffles and my friend got the spicy chicken with potato waffles as well. She commented that her waffles were a little soggy but they were pretty loaded with toppings - there was a generous amount of saucy chicken, salsa and guac! Any kind of waffle would have been soggy. My waffles were loaded with cream cheese and smoked salmon, which is more than I can say for a lot of other brunch spots who give you a tiny layer of cream cheese and 2 pieces of smoked salmon. The dishes also came with a house salad and the option of fresh fruit, potato salad or beans. I opted for the fresh fruit which was fresh and delicious and my friend got the potato salad. In hindsight, with the potato waffles, it was a lot of potato for one sitting so she did regret that order. Additionally it was a tad sweet when I tried it but I have a salty tooth rather than a sweet tooth. I also got the mimosa, which comes with half a cup of OJ and a whole mini bottle of sparkling wine.. all for a whopping $7.50! I've paid $10 for a mimosa at other places and received half of what I got at Starving Artist so this is a winner in my books! My friend got peppermint tea that came out in an equally large cup (hooray for less refills!).
I'm still dreaming about those potato waffles and will be back soon to try the other delectable waffle combinations on the menu! We got there at 11 and were seated promptly. I noticed the rush came at around 12ish so it's best to come early or later at around 2pm - we left at around that time and there were a number of tables free.
