| - There's a lot to say about this place so we'll just go with a pros and cons list. To clarify, I lived here for 13 months.
Pros:
1. Fairly inexpensive for being so close to ASU Tempe. I just walked over to the Orbit and took a free shuttle to get near campus. Saved a lot of $$ by not needing to pay for parking.
2. The complaints about paper thin walls are confusing to me because I literally never heard anything except for the occasional music upstairs. Someone in an apartment right near ours broke their door down and we didn't hear it (good or bad... I guess you decide!)
3. The location is pretty decent. It's a little sketchy and I feel as if this place attracts quite a few drug addicts and not-so-safe people. I never felt like I was in danger, I had pretty good neighbors. $5-$8 Uber to Mill. $5-$8 Uber to Old Town!
4. The AC is included and when it works it is extremely COLD.
4. Maintenance is great. Super quick to respond to any issues.
Cons:
1. COCKROACHES! So many roaches. At first we thought they were coming from the sewer so we started closing our drains (not from AZ, no roaches where I lived prior). Alas, this didn't work and we ended up having a roach problem. They're also crawling around outside. Prior management said that they sprayed when we signed our lease but they definitely don't. It shows.
2. The air conditioning went out SO MANY times this summer!!!!!! No one ever responded to our complaints. No one was EVER in the office to hear the complaints. It was MISERABLE.
3. Management, at least when we were there, was terrible. Rude & unresponsive. Based on new reviews, maybe this has changed.
4. We paid the same amount of $$ per month as people in the other end of the complex but for less amenities. We shared a laundry room with hotel guests, a pool with hotel guests, didn't have a pool key, no laundry room key, etc. It felt like we were living in a hotel which was absolutely miserable. I brought this up to management with literally no response. I even emailed Chamberlain & Associate without a response. When we signed our lease we were told the entire complex would be converted to apartments within months..... yeah, that didn't happen.
5. Left the place fairly clean. We wiped everything down, swept, vacuumed, that sort of thing. We got our deposit back so that was a bonus as many apartments charge ridiculous fees.
There's probably quite a bit more that I could say but overall: not a bad place to live. I wouldn't rent here again nor would I suggest it to my friends & family but it isn't the worst you could do. 3 stars seems fair.
P.S. The internet SUCKS. Test the wifi in your apartment and find where the best signal is. If the best spot is by a window then go to BestBuy and get a Wifi Signal Booster, put it in your window, and hope it gives you signal. We didn't have signal anywhere except in front of our window but the Booster made us have it everywhere (spotty, slow, but still enough to get school work done).
