I just moved to Chrarlotte 9 months ago. This is first time I've had to buy furniture in this city. After going to several stores, it seems pretty normal to feel like a prey animal entering a field of hawkish sales staff who stalk you around the stores. I purchased a dinning table and 4 chairs. The store experience was okay. But the delivery experience is horrible.
We purchased on April 2nd. The delivery was scheduled for April 6th. The night before I got a call saying one chair was missing. I was rescheduled for delivery on the 8th. The night before delivery, I got a call saying the chair had not arrived. They were willing to deliver on Sunday, the 10th. I told them I had plans for Sunday afternoon and needed a morning delivery.
The customer service staff said Ashely could not work with customer request and I only had the option to accept my delivery time or reject the time and reschedule. This sounded rediculous. The night before delivery, I was told I had an afternoon delivery time, which I had to reject and reschedule. This time I was rescheduled for April 13th. I made a request for a morning delivery and was told the same accept or reject info.
Today, I just received a message that I was assigned another afternoon delivery time. If I reject this date, the next delivery date that worked was April 20th. I was utterly frustrated. I would have given Ashley 1 star except for a customer service lady named, Tina. She worked with me and got the delivery scheduled changed for me so I won't have to wait until next Wednesday for my table and chairs. Thank you, Tina for working extra hard and earning a gold star.
Tip: if you buy from Ashley, it would be easier to borrow a pickup or a hatchback and pick up your stuff from the disribution center in Fort Mill instead of paying their $129/item delivery charge and then pull your hair out waiting.
